Soul mates

Soul mates What exactly are soul mate relationships?

It seems like every single person is looking for their soul mate. Oh woe is me, when will I ever find my Soul Mate, OR I had one but they’re gone, will I ever find another?

The accepted definition of a soul mate is someone who is a carbon copy of your thoughts, feelings, dreams, aspirations, and values. Many people believe that there is one person that is a mirror image of who they themselves are, so they don’t have to compromise, adapt or change in anyway. As soul mates, we love each other more than any two people have ever loved anyone. Is it possible? It’s a seductive thought, but to find the perfect mirror image of you is impossible. Even Identical twins are different in many ways. Mathematicians and geneticists will tell you it’s impossible to be exactly alike and agree on everything.  Still the thought of  soul mates remains an enticing thought for many people.

Despite dreams of soul mates, the reality is that most relationships are living, breathing entities that require lots of care, nurturing, and compromise to survive. What some people call a soul mate relationship is often just a lustful desire to make love and say I Love You to another person that they have the hots for.  Just watch out for the differences, they grow and the lust usually fades.
